Although Al was kind enough to insist otherwise, I'm basically a novice when it comes to fishing. Definitely a novice when it comes to salmon fishing. That said, my six hours on Lake Ontario with Al were incredible: 8 salmon total, 3 of which were 20 pounds plus.
Al clearly is knowledgeable and loves what he does. Picking up a bit of that knowledge and learning from him was unexpected, but added so much to the experience. Will I go again? Absolutely!
That does present a problem for Al -- He's going to have to be sure I do at least as well my next time out.

Many thanks for a terrific day of fishing.
I have lived in Toronto all my life and had never realized how good the salmon fishing was in Lake Ontario. I have spent days trolling for salmon in British Columbia with much less success than we had with you in a few hours. Catching a 22-lb King Salmon in the first hour of fishing was a great treat.
Also many thanks for photos. They were extremely clear and well cropped
I’ll be back!
"As an obsessive angler, my trip to Toronto was fantastic. I only had two days to fish and my fish of choice was salmon. A charter boat would have probably turned up a couple of fish, but this is not what I was looking for. I really wanted the ?one to one? experience of a professional fishing guide. I found Al on the Internet, I had no idea what to expect. I had high expectations and I am glad to say that Al stepped up to the mark with flying colors. I would highly recommend Al, from the novice to the experienced angler such as me. The fishing at times was frantic with double figure fish, coming thick and fast. It was good to spend time with someone who is enthusiastic as I am about catching fish. I had a fantastic couple of days and I owe my fish tally too Al's guiding skills."
Want to have an outstanding fishing adventure? You should consider booking a trip with Alan Slocombe of Al’s Adventures. Having fished with Al at Great Slave Lake and on Lake Ontario and the lakes around Toronto, I can attest to his abilities as a guide. His knowledge of fishing methods and dedication to the success of his clients is unsurpassed. Al consistently put us on large numbers of Lake Trout, King Salmon, Northern Pike and Rainbow Trout. One morning on Great Slave Lake, we caught over fifty Lake Trout with average weights between 10-19 lbs. With Al as our guide, I caught the largest Lake Trout, King Salmon and Rainbow Trout in a lifetime of fishing. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, personable and hardworking guide, you should book a trip with Al’s Adventures.
I have been in Anchorage, Alaska since January 2006 and was really excited to do some salmon fishing .When I contacted you and got my son lined up to come to Toronto I was skeptical as to the success we would have - now that it is over I can honestly say you far, far exceeded our expectations and your commitment to our success was unbelievable. We were treated like royalty and had your full attention the entire three days and nights of our trip. You produced 20 to 30 pound Salmon every day and wore us out – my arm still aches and I grin every time I try to pick something up!! You met and exceeded every promise you made us and I cannot wait to return next year to go after a 40 pounder.
The Musky adventure was a great success and we had a day of fun hunting for those fish - although I have learned the Musky is a lot smarter fish then the Pike and now have a much greater respect for that fish and someday - maybe next year - we will get a 40 to 50 incher to add to our replica collection!!
Al, I cannot thank you enough for your dedication and 100% commitment of making our three day (and night) fishing adventure fun filled, exciting and such a huge success. Your boat and equipment was the best - sorry for the good stuff we lost but that is part of the business!! your personal touch and willingness to share your knowledge with Brandon is appreciated more than I can express!!
Looking forward to next year and please save the big ones for us!!! I am back in Alaska and the creeks are full - elbow to elbow with silly Alaskan Fishermen and Fisherwomen - I hope the Salmon win this year!!
